Should you go back to school to get more education?
Just because you haven't found a job yet doesn't necessarily mean you should start filling out grad school applications...

You finished your undergraduate degree but you aren’t sure you are ready for the real world.  Maybe this is a great time to stay at your school and get more education… but let us set you straight… it’s not.  Too many students go for grad school right out of college simply because they didn’t have a job.  Finding a career takes work, and even though Kickass Careers speeds up the process (Sign up if you haven’t already… unless you are against making money), one really needs to consider what they are giving up becoming overeducated and often less hirable for entry-level jobs.

Chances are you already have student loans, but these will most likely double if you choose to attend graduate school.  Most students easily spend over $30,000 in tuition and living expenses per year while missing out on a salary (we’ll assume $45K for this example).  Keep in mind that very few scholarships are offered for graduate degrees.  All of a sudden these extra few years of school including opportunities costs may end up costing you over $150,000!

If you can master the admissions test (try to find a free practice test online) and land yourself into a top level MBA or graduate program then by all means do it! But realistically, most college grads will not get into a Top 10 program.  Kickass Careers believes you should not waste your time and money on a graduate degree when you have so many opportunities to establish your career.

However, if you have your mind made up about seeking an MBA or graduate degree, then an online graduate degree program may be just the answer for you.  It may offer you the flexibility you need at this point in your life to juggle all that you have on your plate.

I know what you are thinking – an online degree?  Only high school dropouts get those, right?  WRONG.  While some of these programs were originally little more than diploma mills, many online universities are now accredited.  Add several brick and mortar universities to the mix offering online MBA degrees and you will see that the online degree is for real.  An online program allows you the benefit of being able to work full-time and still pursue your graduate degree or eMBA.  And if you think you are the only one doing this, think again.  From Shaquille O’Neal who earned an online MBA in 2005 to Secretary to the U.S.

Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters, more people are finding the online degree a great alternative to traditional programs.  University of Phoenix, the largest college in the nation, has over a quarter of a million students enrolled (that’s more people than half the population of Wyoming).

Whether you decide to pursue a graduate degree or not, the Kickass Career Team is here to mold you into that desirable and dynamic young professional companies fight to employ.
